(part of a) Weekend wrapup in pictures...
Friday

Friday night: 2223 Restaurant & Bar (review to come later), dinner with David and Dawn, and at around 11:30pm I managed to make it to Sweets Ballroom in downtown Oakland for the Friday night Fish Fry: Lisa's designated birthday venue.

Saturday morning: Head Start kiddie capoeira class at Fairyland, Oakland, near Lake Merritt.

I didn't realise we had this little fantasyland in the east bay -- it was totally kid-oriented, with rides limited to those below a certain height, figures and tableaux from favourite childrens' tales and poems, and all sorts of fun nooks and crannies in which to clamber over, scamper through and wander about. It was a Head Start kids day, and we were there to teach a kiddie capoeira class. It was also one of the hottest days of the year, and we were surprised that the kids who attended were able to last for so long...

Saturday night

Menu: Starters - Coppa with arugula, fennel and manchego; saucisson sec; soft Mirabo cow's milk brie; candied walnuts; Main - chicken and sausage ragu over fusili with parsley butter; Dessert - home-nade hazelnut ice cream ...
