Rincon Park
I finally made it to the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market this past Saturday, and snapped a whole heckuvalot of pictures. I'll be posting them over the next few days or so, unfortunately I don't have time (at the moment) to wax poetic about the experience. Soon, hopefully...
The benches facing the water were covered with little creatures from the sea, hanging off the edges as if they have in fact been crawling up from the bay.
My latest favourite local sculpture -- "Cupid's Span" -- erected in 2002, it's a huge bow and arrow that seems to have struck the side of the earth with such force that both the arch of the bow and the tip of the arrow have been submerged. If you read the artists' statement here, you'll see the numerous layers of interpretation and meaning in the sculpture (a bow and arrow, a city with heart, a ship's bow, feathers of birds...) -- quite a beautiful exposition. Read more in the Chron article here.
The skies were a little overcast and grey last Saturday morning; hopefully I'll be able to snap some more pictures on a day with better weather and atmosphere.
