Claudine, Capricorn, happily married to Danny, or DD. I live in San Francisco with above-referenced husband and puppy. Loves (in no particular order): family, friends, food, cooking, running, dance, puppies, kittens and hiking. I thank yaya and Mom for teaching me how to cook, and Dad for teaching me how to eat out.
I started blogging in 2004 and have taken long/ short/ indeterminate breaks here and there. My focus had been about food in all its forms – home cooking, living in San Francisco, dining out, and what we nosh on when we travel.
In July 2011, I started running, and took to it fairly quickly. Living in San Francisco where we are blessed with 50-60 degree weather year-’round makes for very pleasant and ideal running conditions. Posts on running, race reports, running gear, and of course, what I eat before and after running may appear with some frequency. I’ve completed many half marathons and 2 full marathons. In 2015, my running goal is to complete Brazen Racing’s Ultra Half Challenge by running at least five of their toughest trail Half Marathons.
In the Spring of 2015, DD hiked the Lost Coast Trail over 3 days, and has been obsessed by backcountry backpacking ever since. In June, 2015, I, having never backpacked before in my life, completed a 4-day, 3-night trek on the Rae Lakes Loop, and now am similarly enamoured with this new activity. We hope to thru-hike the John Muir Trail in 2016.
This blog has had numerous titles over the past several years. At one point, it was dubbed Memory and Desire in a nod to one of my favourite poems. I then changed it to Tabemasu, when DD and I were obsessed with all things Japan. This time around, as we were on our training hikes, and climbing up a particularly steep section of trail, or going up an incline that seemed to never end, legs burning, I’d hear James McAvoy’s excellent impression of Patrick Stewart in my head, saying “Legs, engage!” And since it’s most appropriate for running as well, I made the change.
